Thank you for being patient with me on these blog posts as May has been just fast and furious.
Please meet Ms. Dawn Otto, our cafeteria food server assistant.
Mrs. Otto was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. This is her 13th year at Spicewood and 17th year in the district!!! That's how she knows ins and outs of Spicewood so well! :) Her family attended a Dallas Cowboys football camp in Austin in 1995 and the family fell in love with the city so quickly that they moved to Austin the following year in July. Her husband, Mark, and Mrs. Otto together have 3 children and 4 grand children who all reside in Austin. Her 5th grand child, Liam, is awaiting to see the world on July 4th of this year! Before she became a part of food services department in RRISD 17 years ago, she worked in Germany for a summer. She then stayed home with her children for 12 years. Her love for any kinds of food and all kinds of food really suits her as she works in food services who is to promote healthy eating habits. Her favorite color blue. Her favorite book is The Wind in the Willows written by Kenneth Grahame.
"There isn't just one favorite thing, all the kids, teachers, parents and office staff make my job so much fun. I learn something new every day," shared Mrs. Otto. "It's when you walk into the school everyone welcomes you and makes you part of all the events that are going on. Also, all the things the students share with me they're learning," stated Mrs. Otto when asked about why she thinks Spicewood is such a great place to be. She'd like to tell our students to enjoy what they're learning and do their very best!
It's almost been a full school year for me here at Spicewood and I had no idea that Mrs. Otto has worked at Spicewood ES for 13 years! There is no doubt that Mrs. Otto has made a significant contribution in making Spicewood a great place to be for all stakeholders. Her smile and warm attitude towards our students make a huge impact each and every day. We are so very thankful for all of her hard work and dedication!
